Greek railways, suburban network, and freight trains slowly return to service as of Wednesday

Services in all of Greece were suspended following the deadly train collision at Tempi in central Greece on February 28 that cost the lives of 57 individuals and injured scores more. The gradual reopening of the railway system was announced by State Minister responsible for Infrastructure & Transport Giorgos Gerapetritis on March 14, following a review of and implementation of safety measures.
The following trains will resume operation as of Wednesday, Hellenic Train said:
Piraeus-Athens-Airport & Airport-Athens-Pireaus
Ano Liossia-Airport & Airport-Ano Liossia
Ano Liossia-Kantza & Kantza-Ano Liossia
Athens-Chalkida & Chalkida-Athens
Suburban railroad of Patras
Olympia-Pyrgos-Katakolo
Diakofto-Kalavryta
The first train out of 'Stathmos Larissis' stop will be at 04:45 on Wednesday, on the Athens-Inoi route. Riding on it will be Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) interim CEO Panagiotis Terezakis.
In addition, the first freight trains to resume operations will be on the Athens-Thessaloniki route and on the Thessaloniki-Athens route.
