Hellenic Police and Israeli authorities dismantle international narcotics network
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Hellenic Police, in cooperation with Israeli authorities, have successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking network. The criminal network was involved in the procurement, transportation, importation and concealment of narcotics within Greek territory, with the final destination being Israel, via maritime routes. The financial gains of the organization are estimated to exceed 2.5 million euros.
During a coordinated police operation conducted from Monday to early Tuesday in Volos, Magnesia eight members of the organization were arrested.
According to a statement from the Hellenic Police, the members of this organization had established a large-scale criminal network with a continuous, structured operation and distinct roles, aiming to generate significant financial profits through drug trafficking. Specifically, police reported that the members sourced narcotics from Western European countries, concealed them in motorhomes and then transported and imported them into Greece. The drugs were subsequently transferred onto boats destined for Israel.
Additionally, the investigation revealed the specific roles of the organization's members. The operation resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including 53 kilograms and 240 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 50 kilograms and 250 grams of ketamine and 7 grams of cannabis, along with money, mobile phones, vehicles and maritime vessels.
The arrested individuals have been referred to the competent prosecutorial authority while investigations continue to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the organization
