Migrants wedged in the luggage compartment, attempting to enter Greece by bus
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A shocking video posted by a coach driver on TikTok is causing great concern and brings to the fore the illegal entry of migrants into Greece even in the most dangerous way. The video, taken by the driver himself at a parking and departure area in Constantinople, shows two migrants in the luggage compartment of the vehicle in an attempt to cross illegally into Greece.
The images are shocking, as the two migrants can be seen literally wedged in the narrow space under the coach as they struggle to crawl out of the extremely cramped space. The driver, who appears to be aware of the situation and the dangers involved, is heard commenting in the video that such incidents are common, pointing out that in many cases drivers are in trouble with the authorities, arrested or investigated, despite the fact that, as he points out, they have not knowingly allowed the migrants into their vehicles.
The emergence of such phenomena highlights the need to intensify controls and revise regulations, both in Greece and Turkey, in order to ensure the legal and safe movement of travelers. This incident highlights the reality experienced by professional drivers, and is further evidence of the pressure on the Greek-Turkish border due to the constant flow of illegal immigrants.
