Makeshift explosive device goes off at New Democracy MP's home

A homemade explosive device exploded Monday morning outside the home of ruling New Democracy Member of Parliament Stratos Simopoulos in Thessaloniki, causing property damage but no injuries, authorities reported.
The blast occurred around 4 a.m., shattering the glass entrance of the apartment building where Mr. Simopoulos resides, according to eyewitnesses.
No cars were damaged, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Mr. Simopoulos told public broadcaster ERT that he initially believed the explosion was from a gas tank.
"Then the Anti-Terrorism Unit informed me it was a gas canister attack outside the entrance of my building," Mr. Simopoulos said. "This is the first time something like this has happened to a lawmaker’s residence in Thessaloniki, and that makes it doubly unacceptable.”
Police and anti-terrorism officers are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
