The trip that was planned as a celebration before her wedding turned into a tragedy for 37-year-old Italian Sara Ceccantini, who breathed her last at Syros Hospital, where she was being treated after a serious car accident that occurred two days ago in Mykonos.
The unfortunate woman had traveled to the island of the Winds with her friends for her bachelorette party, as she was going to get married in a few weeks. However, no one could have imagined that the vacation would turn into a nightmare. According to information from Protothema, the accident occurred on the main road of the island, near Xtreme Gyros. The car in which the Italian women were traveling was moving in the right-hand traffic lane, when the driver attempted to make a left turn, crossing the oncoming traffic. At that moment, a passenger car with a local driver was moving from the opposite direction. The collision was inevitable. The second vehicle hit the rear right side of the Italian car, right where the 37-year-old was sitting.
Sara Ceccantini received the brunt of the impact and was seriously injured. Panic broke out at the scene, while rescuers and police officers rushed to offer assistance. The 37-year-old was initially taken to the Mykonos Health Center and then had to be airlifted to Syros Hospital, where she fought to stay alive.
Despite the doctors' efforts, she succumbed to her injuries today, plunging her family, friends and colleagues in Italy into mourning. The preliminary investigation did not reveal any alcohol consumption by any of the drivers involved, as the relevant tests were negative. The authorities continue to examine all the facts of the accident in order to fully clarify the circumstances under which the fatal collision that cut the thread of the 37-year-old Italian woman's life so prematurely occurred.
The 37-year-old Italian woman worked for several years at a Prada factory, which, as soon as the unpleasant news became known, was closed in mourning. Her death caused deep mourning among colleagues, friends and acquaintances.
The woman was the mother of a daughter and lived in the province of Arezzo with her partner.
