Logos for Greek products

Three logos are competing in the contest organized by the Development ministry. They were selected by a committee of experts and will be posted on the ministry's website.

The contest started four years ago, when 160 proposals were submitted by 96 people and companies. The contest for the logo which will represent Greek products sold in the country and all over the world, has entered its final stage.

Three logos are competing in the contest organized by the Development ministry: A heart shaped Greek flag, a column capital shaped by the letters “G” and “R” and a small boat, the age old symbol of Greece.

The three logos were selected by a committee of experts and will be posted on the ministry's website (www.mindev.gov.gr) for fifteen days, giving the public the opportunity to vote for their favorite one.

We wanted to impress sentiment, love and a positive emotion”, says Mimika Davia, one of the three creative members of “Genesis”, the advertising agency behind the Greek flag heart shaped logo. “Symbolism is there too”, she adds, “with the flag cross representing mathematics and the Greek flag a sign of positivity”.

Ad agency ATTP is behind the GR shaped column capital. Executive Nikos Palaiologos says his team wanted to avoid folklore. “We wanted to create a new symbol for Greece”, he added. “Our aim was to offer a new reading of Greece”. The symbolism is quite clear – it shows a country firmly on its feet and that's an image in which the world recognizes Greece”.

Kalliopi Psalti, an art director working for 20 years and a mother of two, is the creator of the small boat logo. She says she was inspired by her children , making paper boats all the time. “The small boat is all about Greece”, she says. “It makes you think of trade and traveling, two of the most characteristic Greek traits”, she adds.

So, log on to the ministry's site and vote for your favorite Greek logo. This way you can say to yourselves that you participated in the selection of an international logo to be identified around the world for decades to come.
