Scandinavians love Crete

Positive messages from Nordic countries for Greek tourism, especially for the tourism of Crete, are seen by region of Crete tourism sources, based on their participation in the Stockholm tourism exhibition, with trends in tourism increasing in relation to last year.
According to the region, these findings are borne out of the large participation and strong interest of visitors, but also professionals of tourism, for the island in the tourist exhibition «Grekland Panorama» held in Stockholm from 13 to 15 February. The «Grekland Panorama» is dedicated exclusively to destinations in Greece and the Crete region, where it participated with a large booth.
On the first day, targeted actions were performed with information on traditional and new tourism trends on the Nordic market aiming to extend the tourist season, through, for example, golf, hiking and medical tourism etc. Contacts were also made among Cretan tourism entrepreneurs and Scandinavian tour operators.
The second day was devoted to visitors at the stand of the Region of Crete, where the turnout was great. Guests were informed about Crete and tasted traditional Cretan dishes by certified producers with chefs who accompanied the mission of the region, while the giant screens of «Ericsson Globe Arena» showed the award-winning commercials ofCrete.
The Crete region was represented by Executive Director of Tourism of the Region of Crete, Michael Vamiedakis, who had contacts with tour operators in Scandinavia, media representatives and the Greek Consulate in Stockholm to prepare targeted actions that will highlight the island and attract visitors.
"Scandinavia is a market that brings to Greece visitors of a high economic level with increased purchasing power. Visitors who appreciate and show great respect to our cultural wealth and even traveling most months compared to the average of the other markets, "said Mr. Vamiedakis commenting on the results of the report.
