Protest March for Charter Schools

A march in protest of recent proposals made by democratic nominee for mayor, Bill de Blasio, took place in New York.
De Blasio's proposal called for an end to the practice of housing charter schools in the same buildings as traditional public schools. If this were to pass, it would affect the budget of charter schools, possibly resulting in their having to impose tuition on parents. This would put an end to free education in charter schools, which has been a main attraction for thousands of families.
The protest march began at 8:30 am from Brooklyn, NY. Protesters marched over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan and right to City Hall.
70,000 students participated in this protest, but it is estimated that along with staff and parents who joined, more than twenty charter schools were not in operation in order to participate in the march.
