Congressman Bilirakis Condemns Turkish Occupation of Cyprus

U.S. Representative Gus Bilirakis condemned the illegal occupation of Cyprus by Turkey yesterday.

Bilirakis who also serves as the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Hellenic Israeli Alliance stated: "40 years of illegal occupation is 40 years too long! It is time for Turkey to engage in sincere negotiations and concrete confidence building measures instead of going through the motions and creating more obstacles when tough decisions are on the table. Both sides know a solution will demand compromise and cooperation. The time to talk is nearing its end; the time to act is here!"

July 20th marks the 40th year that Turkey has illegally occupied the island of Cyprus. Congressman Bilirakis' comments in full, can be viewed in the video below.
