European Commission Assists Syrian Refugees on Cyprus
The European Commission has allotted 0,98 million euros from its Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), to Cyprus to assist Syrian refugees on the island.
The amount will go towards Cypriot dwelling Syrian's day-to-day needs and medical care. Cypriot officials rescued 400 Syrians this past September 25th, off the coast of Paphos, while the funds will be dispersed over a four month period.
The AMIF was set up to advocate the efficient management of migration flows and the strengthening, implementation and development of a general European Union means to immigration and asylum efforts. The Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) was created for the years 2014 until 2020, totaling 3.1 billion euros, that will be implemented over the seven years of its existence.
