Greek & Turkish-Cypriot Leaders Attend Performance Together
The Republic of Cyprus' President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci are set to attend a performance together today by Turkish-Cypriots.
The event is being held in Limassol within the Greek-Cypriot territory. This marks another effort by both sides in advancing their relations.
Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides described in a written statement, "The President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mustafa Akinci will attend together a performance of the theatrical play 'Cyprus: Saddened in Greek, Wounded in Turkish' at the Rialto Theatre, in Limassol, on Monday, June 8 at 8pm.", as reported by Parikiaki.
The two Cypriot chiefs plan to meet at the theatre's entrance. The live performance will be subtitled in Greek, while the translation was executed by University of Cyprus students.
