Empire Navigation, owners of the hijacked tanker of Greek interests 'St. Nikolas', said that the local correspondent of P&I Club insurance agency paid a visit on Monday to the crew at Iran's port of Bandar Abbas.
The Greek-owned and Marshall Island-flagged tanker was seized by five gunmen off the coast of Oman on Thursday and anchored the same day at Bandar Abbas, with its satellite-based communications disabled.
According to Empire Navigation, the insurance shipping agent was given permission by Iranian authorities to meet with the 19-member crew and provide any necessary help. He confirmed that all crew members were safe and in good health, Empire Navigation said.
The crew includes a Greek captain trainee.
The tanker left a few days ago from Basra (Iraq) loaded with rougly 145,000 of crude oil bound for Aliaga (Turkiye) via the Suez Canal. According to Iranian media, its cargo has been confiscated following a court order by the Iranian Navy.
