Cyprus Accepts European Parliament Submissions
Today, sixty-one individuals presented their candidacy for European Parliament elections in Cyprus, which will take place on Sunday, May 25th.
The official submissions were held at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia, from early in the morning until noon. Out of the total number of applicants, six are Turkish Cypriots. The island will elect six MEPs. Fifty-three have party affiliations, while eight are running as independents.
Chief Returning Officer Constantinos Nicolaides stated that as required by legislation, a 24-hour period is granted to object against candidacy. The Officer added that if there are no discrepancies, all hopefuls will be included in the Cypriot European election voting ballot.
