Athens University Professor Gives Greek Education Lecture in Melbourne
In Melbourne last week, Athens University professor Athina Zoniou-Sideri offered a seminar, that discussed the Greek education sector and the financial crisis.
Speaking at the Ithacan Philanthropic Society building, the Athenian professor stated that the nation's education budget declined by 35.5% over the last five years, as reported by Neo Kosmos. It is predicted to fall an additional 14% by 2016.
The academic also claimed that teacher compensations have been slashed by 45%, while the quantity of teachers has declined by 30%. The amount of school-aged children that currently do not attend any form of education has risen by 11.4%.
