Gaultier launches Mercouri inspired shirt
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
With global fashionistas reeling in shock from the announcement by the announcement of eccentric and deeply philhellene French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier that he is leaving the Prêt-à-Porter line and is concentrating only on haute couture, news that he is designing asailor shirt (mariniera) dedicated to Melina Mercouri piqued the attention.
The proceeds will be given to the Melina Mercouri Foundation.
As Ta Nea newspaper quotes the designer: "I can not forget Melina Mercouri in black dress at 'Never on Sunday'." The designer designed the “mariniera” and a T-shirt with the sole purpose of reinforcing the Melina Mercouri Foundation. Domestic production and the sale is expected to begin in a few months.
