A shake-up occurred at the top of the Greek box office for the four-day period of February 5–8, 2026, with the film Saint Paisios climbing to first place, displacing Kapodistrias and leaving Amnet behind.

Saint Paisios, which premiered on January 29 and is showing in 27 theaters in Athens and 106 nationwide, sold 23,983 tickets in its second week of release, bringing its total to 82,586 as of Monday, February 9. In second place, Amnet, showing in 35 theaters in Athens and 81 nationwide, sold 23,034 tickets in its third week, reaching a total of 99,926. Kapodistrias, which premiered on December 25 and now ranks third, sold 13,374 tickets in its seventh week, in 28 theaters in Athens and 83 nationwide, with a total of 763,657 tickets sold up to Monday.

In fourth place is The Refuge, with 10,887 tickets sold in its second week, in 47 theaters nationwide, reaching a total of 37,848.

Among the new releases of the week, only Return to Silent Hill, Sam Raimi’s Help, and Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience! entered the top 10, showing the growing appeal of K-pop in the Greek market.

About the Film Saint Paisios

The film follows the life of Saint Paisios from his birth in Farasa, Cappadocia, and his family’s displacement after the Treaty of Lausanne, to his childhood in Konitsa, where his grandmother and mother instilled in him deep faith and love for others. It depicts his military service in 1945 as a radio operator and his final departure to Mount Athos in March 1953, with stops at Esphigmenou Monastery and Philotheou Monastery, where he becomes a monk and takes the name Paisios. This is a cinematic retelling presented on the big screen for the first time, including scenes not previously shown on television.

The film is directed by Stamos Tsamis, with a screenplay by Giorgos Tsiakkas. The cast includes Prokopis Agathokleous, Nikitas Tsakiroglou, Christos Loulis, Dimitris Xanthopoulos, Smaragda Smyrnaiou, Giannis Stankoglou, Giorgos Armenis, Christina Pavlidou, Antonis Katsaris, Paisios Exarchos, Dimitris Himellos, Drosos Skotis, Despina Gatzio, Riniou Kyriazi, and Kostas Apostolakis.
