Prime Minister meets President to dissolve parliament

After yesterday's inconclusive vote to elect a new President of the Republic, and as the constitution requires, Mr. Samaras requested the dissolution of Parliament and the calling of elections on January 25.

The Prime Minister replied: "The House was dissolved prematurely. The elections are not the desire of the people. It is not necessary. It was the result of partisan self-interest. But when it comes to security and stability of the nation, this requires true struggle and responsibility. In this fight, parties are not primary but the homeland, when it has to do with the presence of Greece in Europe. We will give this fight with sense of responsibility towards the future of our children. "
