Ioannina island inundated
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The island of Ioannina has been inundated by the waters of lake Pamvotis, which threatened homes and property.
The disaster affecting Ioannina and the entire Epirus district, left strong marks on the Island of Lake Pamvotis, as well, as huge quantities of water in the area fed the lake, whose level rose dangerously!
Without exaggeration water has reached within yards and basements of houses were flooded on Nisi upsetting residents, since they do not know what to do!
The people on the island are on alert and hoping that the level of lake Pamvotis will not rise further , as in such a case their properties would really be threatened, on this unique habitable lake island, the only such in Europe.
