Regional airports near collapse
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The situation in all Greek regional airports is dramatic, due to financial problems that have lingered for more than a year, as there are big debts to suppliers.
As neatv.gr reported a few days ago, while the Greek Gov’t collects millions of euros from airports, there is no airport in Greece which can cover its basic needs.
Chania “Daskalogiannis”Airport deposits 3,000 euros to the Bank of Greece, for every plane that departs, but there is no fuel for the service cars!
According to flashnews.gr, technicians can not go check any radar, due to lack of fuel in the cars.
In some cases, there is no fuel for the fire trucks, which means that the airport must close.
Also, although there is a doctor at Chania Airport, there are no money to buy basic medicines!
And by next wek there will be no toilet paper in Chania Airport!!!
MPs of Chania Prefecture and Fin Min Giorgos Stathakis have been informed for all those problems.
On Thursday morning, employees of Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority made a protest rally at the base of HCAA at Elliniko, Athens.
