- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
An increase of 469% has been registered in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the same period last year, in the number of refugees and migrants crossing into the country through the Greek-Turkish sea border.
This according to information provided to parliament, by deputy interior minister Tasia Christodoulopoulou, in response to a question by ND MP Nikitas Kaklamanis. Specifically, they amounted to 12,642 in the first quarter of 2015.
Meanwhile, it's only a matter of time for the acquisition of Greek citizenship for thousands of second-generation immigrants, who were left in the air, as the bill of the Interior Ministry is already posted for public consultation. According to the newspaper "Ta Nea", about 200,000 children are expected to acquire the Greek citizenship.
