EC spokesman: The ball is in Greece’s court
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
"The ball is clearly in Greece’s court," European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said on Wednesday. Schinas underlined that Greece needs to be consistent with what was discussed between the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker last week.
He also noted that the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Pierre Moscovici informed the Greek delegation yesterday that the latest proposals fall short of what Greece has promised. Negotiations at technical level continue, he said, in order to bridge the differences and reach a deal within eurozone members states.
Asked whether Tsipras will meet with Juncker, Schinas replied that the conditions for such a meeting are clear and he only confirmed the participation of Juncker in the summit.
