A motion for a vote of censure/confidence in the government was tabled by SYRIZA in parliament, on the occasion of police intervention to clear the compound of public broadcaster ERT of occupying former employees.
"We have a duty to hinder the government and with the support of the people we will manage to block this course and create the conditions for a better tomorrow," said SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras
The SYRIZA proposal was accepted by government reform minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis who spoke of an opportunity for the government to prove that the governing coalition is strong and unbroken, and over the next few days all will position themselves as to how they see the future of the country. Mr. Mitsotakis added that through the vote of confidence the governing coalition will be re-mandated.
The discussion on the motion will begin tomorrow (Friday) at noon and will conclude on Sunday midnight with a roll call vote.
