Greek regional airports go to Fraport!

The decision is signed by the Ministers of Economy, Mr. Tsakalotos, of Economics, Mr. Stathakis, Environment, Mr. Skourletis, and the vice president of the Government, Mr. Dragassakis and published on the Government Gazette.

Fraport Group’s consortium with Sentel had been awarded the concession to operate and manage 14 regional airports in Greece, offering an upfront payment of €1.234 billion and annual inflation-adjusted payments of €22.9 million. The concession will run for 40 years with a ten-year extension option.

The 14 Greek regional airports are Thessaloniki, Corfu, Chania, Cephallonia, Zakynthos, Aktion, Kavala, Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Mytilini, Mykonos, Santorini and Skiathos.

The management group is expected to invest €330 million in the airports over the next four years, with total investment across the life of the concession reaching €1.4 billion.

The airports served a total of 6.4 million departing international passengers last year. According to statistics provided with tender documents, nine of the airports welcomed more than 65% of their total traffic in June-September 2014.
