Call for South Africans to Invest in Greece

An invitation?call was extended to South African entrepreneurs to invest in Greece by deputy foreign minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos.
Mr. Gerontopoulos was speaking, in Johannesburg, at a conference organized by the Greek chapter of the HIP Alliance, a union of South African entrepreneurs of Greek, Italian, and Portuguese roots.
During his speech, the deputy foreign minister noted the significance of Greece as an entry point for Europe, the Balkans, and the Middle East and called on his listeners to look on possibilities in the sectors of renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, energy, engineering, shipping, tourism, and real estate. He also called on local firms to take advantage of the government's privatization process.
During his stay in Johannesburg, Mr. Gerontopoulos met representatives of the local omogeneia organizations, as well as with the members of the Greek Studies school of the University of Johannesburg.
