- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Students from the 1st professional high school and the 1st general high school of Argos in response to an article created a touching documentary about the plight of refugees entirely on their own.
When a report entitled "repaying a debt of 100 years helping refugees in Lesvos" that made the Internet rounds fell into their hands they created a film about Ed St 'George, the 70 year-old who in November came from California to Lesvos, in order to repay a century-old debt.
The touching story behind the film
Ed St 'George left the comfort of California where he lived, came to Eftalou, rented house and car and started an aid campaign for refugees and migrants on the island. His aim is to repay a debt to humanity as he says. A child of migrants himself, with parents that fled Asia Minor with a boat from the coast, only to be saved by the inhabitants of Mytilene.
The film "The Debt" is also dedicated to refugees, but also to ordinary anonymous volunteers who assist daily those in need.
