Health Ministry Threatens to Sack Doctors
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
An ultimatum of contract termination to doctors contracted by EOPYY health fund has been issued by deputy health minister Antonis Bezas unless they call off their strike.
The threat is aimed at about 1000 doctors that work for EOPYY and also have contracted their private offices to EOPYY, and who according to the minister, strike when working at the fund's clinics in the morning and yet see insured patients in the evenings and receive 20 euros per patient from the fund.
The doctors will have until tomorrow to end their strike or have contract terminated, while patients with prescriptions from said doctors will not receive any contributions for their expense.
The doctors have been on strike for ten days and decided on Thursday to extend their strike for another two weeks.
