Hotspots in dire conditions-teen death
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Greece officially hosts 54,000 refugees and illegal migrants at shelters across the country.
The situation at the refugee hotspots in Greece is becoming increasingly dire. The latest incident involved the death of a 17-year old girl from Syria at the Hellinikon hotspot, who died at hospital after exhaustion yesterday.
Mayors of the surrounding municipalities (Paleo Faliro, Alimos, Glyfada, Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Hellenikon-Argyroupolis) and called on PM Alexis Tsipras to take immediate measures, informing him of the great health risk for refugees and their citizens due to unsanitary conditions at Hellinikon hotspot.
Alternate Minister of Citizen Protection Nikos Toskas reacted to statements made by border guards that the situation in Idomeni is out of control and that jihadis pass freely from Greece.
