Pavlopoulos expresses support for Cyprus in talks with Anastasiades
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The “red lines” in the ongoing negotiations between Cyprus and the Turkish-Cypriot side that derive from international law and the European acquis were stressed by President Prokopis Pavlopoulos during his meeting with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Wednesday evening.
“We are beside you in this marathon negotiations and talks, much more so as you are advocating shared positions which drive from international and European law,” Pavlopoulos said, adding it is “inconceivable” to reach any solution that doesn’t respect the international and European acquis.
This concerns the Cypriot Republic’s legal identity, the issue of citizenship and mainly the issue of sovereignty, he said.
