- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A number of historical monuments and relevant cultural heritage sites located in the Region of Central Greece received approval last month by the culture and finance ministries to be allotted EU subsidies for restoration works.
The archaeological site of Orchomenos, the Church of Evangelismos – Amfissa’s cathedral, the Church of Agios Nikolaos in Sperchiada, the ancient theatre of Delphi and the new archaeological museum of Halkida “Arethousa” will undergo renovation and restoration works to be funded through the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework) 2014-2020 program.
Works will also include upgrade of cultural heritage infrastructure with the aim to develop conditions for sustainable economic growth conditions as well as safeguard the historic and cultural identity of Central Greece.
The monuments’ inclusion in the program also foresees the promotion of these Central Greece sites.
