Four killed in police car chase with human traffickers

Four dead and five wounded is the tragic toll of a road accident that occurred Tuesday night on the provincial road between Kavala and Thessaloniki, at the height of Nea Peramos.
According to information, the vehicle carried eight illegal immigrants, with the trafficker pisked up high speed when he realized he was being followed by police officers of the Department of Illegal Immigration.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and fell over a cliff.
The rescue operation lasted for over an hour, which involved four ambulances, two fire-fighting vehicles, patrol cars and a strong police force.
The fall meant instant death for four of the immigrants, while the other four and the trafficker were seriously injured and taken to the General Hospital of Kavala.
