Two hundred police officers to patrol downtown Athens

A force of 200 police officers will be deployed to patrol the centre of Athens and intervene where needed to avoid incidents, Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said on Friday in an interview with ANT1 TV.
Commenting on Athens mayor Giorgos Kaminis' criticism over the damage caused on Ermou Street, he said that Kaminis should do the things required of him and avoid criticising others to cover own his inadequacy.
He also commented on the stance of main opposition New Democracy and its leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, whom he accused of hypocritical "snivelling" while "rubbing his hands together in glee" every time there was a problem.
