An unprecedented statement on “our brothers, the Turks who are oppressed in Xanthi and Komotini” in northern Greece, was made by Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a speech on the occasion of the “triumph” in Afrin.
The speech was delivered in Sakaria where he described indirectly clearly the boundaries of the neo-Ottoman Empire, as imagined that would include parts of Bulgaria and Syria as well.
In fact, he also been referred to regions of Bulgaria where 1,000,000 Muslim Turkish-speaking people live, which received a reply from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry while the Greek Foreign Ministry and Nikos Kotzias have not yet published a statement,
The Turkish President named West Thrace, Xanthi and Komotini as territories that are encroaching on the “spiritual borders” of Turkey, where “victims and oppressed brothers live”. We remind them that they used to call them “the borders of the heart”.
Addressing AKP members in Sakari,Erdogan “drunk” from the victory in Afrin said:
“From this wonderful place, I would like to personally congratulate my siblings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, FYROM, Serbia, Western Thrace, the Crimea, Bulgaria and Romania.
We send our greetings to all our victims and our oppressed brothers in Sarajevo, Skopje, Xanthi, Komotini, Kardjali and Mostar.
We share our cordiality with these brothers whose souls and eyes turn to Turkey, for those who pray for Turkey’s success.
These cities are within the borders of other states, but they are part of our spiritual borders, Erdogan said.
“Half our hearts are in Constantinople, Diyarbakir, Trebizond, Antalya, Smyrna, and the other half is in Aleppo, Kirkuk, Jerusalem, Sandzak and Bukhara,” he continued.
