By referring to Alexis Tsipras, Angela Merkel commented on the rapid political developments in Italy.
Commenting on the situation in Italy, the most indebted country in the eurozone after Greece, Merkel said: "We have to talk to every government, but we have principles in the eurozone and of course there will be difficult questions."
Asked whether the situation in Italy would continue, Merkel, according to Reuters, has paralleled the situation of the country with the initial stages of her co-operation with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
"Look, when elections took place in Greece and Alexis Tsipras became prime minister, there were a lot of questions on the table."
"We talked a lot - many evenings, but together we did something. We have to do this work, since Italy is an important member of the European Union, "she added in Berlin.
