Greek, Qatari foreign ministers agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation

According to diplomatic sources, they agreed to intensify cooperation between the two ministries on issues of mutual interest and Kotzias referred to Greece's helpful and constructive role in resolving the crisis among the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, adding that it is ready to provide support if needed.

According to the same sources, they stressed the mutual will of the two sides to strengthen cooperation in the cultural and economic fields, with particular emphasis on attracting Qatari investments to Greece.

Finally, Kotzias expressed Greece's appreciation for Qatar's contribution to a fund to assist the victims of the July 23 fires in Attica.

It must be noted that the imposition of the blockade on Qatar by the Saudi-led bloc last year has had a negative impact on regional counterterrorism co-operation, according to a report issued recently by the US Department of State.
