Nelson Mandela’s democratic vision and leadership are more needed than ever as the world faces existential challenges, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in a brief address at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit at the United Nations on Monday.
Tsipras said that Greece inspired the democratic ideals Mandela held and for which he was prepared to risk his life.
The peace summit, a day before the start of the General Debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly, honors the centenary of the birth of Mandela.
