Esper calls on Greece to join Gulf force, ahead of Pompeo visit

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos had a phone call with his US counterpart Mark Esper today, according to a Hellas Journal report.
Mark Esper thanked Mr Panagiotopoulos in a post on twitter that Greece is one of the few NATO member states to spend over 2% of their annual defense budget.
After describing Greece as a loyal friend of the US allies, he noted that he urged Greece to participate in the international initiative to protect critical interests in the Gulf.
"Greece is a close friend and ally to the US & one of the few @NATO members who spend over 2% of GDP on defense. Today I thank Minister Panagiotopoulos for his leadership and encourage Greece to join international efforts to protect critical infrastructure in the Gulf Region," noted Esper in a tweet
