Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis on Monday met with the management of the State Grid Corporation of China, the country's state-owned electricity outlet.
The participation of State Grid in Greece's Independent Power Transmission Operator S.A. (ADMIE) and the electricity interconnection of the island of Crete with Athens-Attiki were reportedly discussed.
State Grid already owns a 24 pct of ADMIE's shares as a strategic investor and expressed interest in increasing its participation. The energy ministry's leadership said is interested in deeper investing in ADMIE and will consider said proposal within the context of EU laws and regulations.
Concerning the Attiki-Crete electricity connection, State Grid said would be keen to put down a 20 pct of the shares capital of ADMIE's subsidiary Ariadne Interconnection, the company which has undertaken the project. To this, the ministry said that Ariadne Interconnection’s shares total will be made available via a legal tender.
