Unprecedented number of Turkish provocations in the Aegean in 2019
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Turkish provocations in the Aegean are constantly increasing at sea, as according to the official data of Armed Forces General Staff in 2019 they have already reached 2,032.
The video recently released with the Turkish coastguard harassing Greek fishermen while fishing in Greek territorial waters at Imia proves once again the proclivities of the Turks.
The famous "battle of the sea bream" seems to have no end, and within the past year the Turks seem to have decided to take an even more aggressive and provocative stance, having increased by 553 the violations in Greek territorial waters.
The information available on its website is indicative. In 2018, the number of violations was 1,479, while for 2019 they reached 2,032. Obviously, Turkey's aggressive policy has to do with the issue of the EEZ and the void agreement signed by Ankara with the Tripoli government in Libya.
