Eleven month old Syrian infant taken dead to hospital, fears of sexual abuse

Featured Eleven month old Syrian infant taken dead to hospital, fears of sexual abuse

A 11-month-old baby, a Syrian refugee child, according to the Aglaia Kyriakou Children's Hospital, was transported Sunday morning to the hospital without a pulse and not breathing. Despite the resuscitation efforts made by the doctors, the little girl could not be kept alive. As it became known later, the medical examiner who examined the little girl's lifeless body found signs of sexual abuse.

However, the fact that the infant suffered from microcephaly brings new evidence to the case, as this may justify the alterations found on its body. Reportedly, definitive answers are expected to come to light after the coronaryh and histological examinations.

Information also says that the other two children of the Syrian family, an 11-month-old baby girl a twin of the dead infant, and a 2.5-year-old baby boy will be examined by a forensic doctor.

The parents of the infant were taken for questioning
According to a statement issued by Greek police ELAS, the parents of the infant, Syrian nationals, residing in a rented refugee apartment in the Zografos area were taken to the Attica Security Directorate. Along with the parents, another Syrian couple were also staying in the same apartment.

Officers are now focusing on forming the profile of the family and the couple who lived with them.
