Labor ministry partners with Google to offer digital skills, entrepreneurship training to young jobless adults

Greek Labor and Social Insurances Minister Costis Hatzidakis on Thursday presented a new partnership between the Manpower Employment Organization (OAED), which manages jobless benefits and training for the unemployed, with Google Greece, cooperation aimed at providing training for unemployed young adults in digital entrepreneurship.
The initiative is linked with an OAED program offering financing for new start-ups by young unemployed adults, to the tune of 15,000 euros per new business.
Speaking at the conference SkillUp Forum in Thessaloniki, Hatzidakis said the program has a significant difference from previous such initiatives, namely, the fact that this is done in cooperation with a global internet giant, “with a huge experience in issues of digital skills and development of entrepreneurship.”
The general director for Google southeast Europe, Peggy Antonakou, said the platform “Grow Greece with Google” expresses the Internet giant’s commitment to substantively and effectively contributing to the country’s growth, with a particular emphasis on digital skills.
