Green light for 34 new environmental projects worth 160 million euros

Thirty-four projects with a total budget of more than 160 million euros are approved by decision of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas. These projects are part of the action: "Treatment and purification of urban wastewater, environmentally sensitive settlements and modernization of facilities in selected cities" of the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The first sub-category of projects includes 15 projects for the upgrading, expansion and modernization of sewage treatment facilities and the reuse of treated water, while the second sub-category of projects includes 19 projects for the implementation of sewage sludge management infrastructure from sludge treatment facilities. In fact, in the next period, new projects are expected to be included in the subcategory for sewer network infrastructure projects and wastewater treatment facilities (E.E.K.).
The projects concern the Municipalities of Ioannina, Hersonissos, Karditsa, Paros, Heraklion, Makrakomi, Thira, Chania, Sikyon, Nafplio, Kythira, Kavala, Akti-Vonitsa, Drama, Ieta (Ios), Larissa, Arta, Northern Plains (Chersonissos, Crete ), Xanthi, Lamia, Livadeia, Agios Nikolaos, Aegialia, Orestiada, Kalamata, Serres, Alexandroupolis, Kilkis, Volos, as well as the Unified Waste Management Association of Crete (ESDAK).
