Severe weather front Elias to hit Greece starting Monday

New severe weather will hit Greece from today (25/09) until Wednesday. Based on the national weather bureau's emergency report, the Civil Protection Ministry has been alerted, as the highest levels of rain are expected to fall in Thessaly.
According to the weather forecast from the EMY, in the Ionian and the continental areas except for eastern Macedonia and Thrace, there will be clouds with local rains and sporadic storms. The effects will be locally strong in Epirus, western Macedonia, Thessaly, western and central Sterea and possibly in the Ionian, northern Peloponnese and western parts of central Macedonia. In the rest of the country, there will be temporary clouds.
Also, the winds will blow in the south-west 4 to 5 Beaufort, in the rest of the country from northern directions 3 to 5 and in the northern Aegean northeast up to 6 to 7 Beaufort. The temperature will drop and reach 26 to 29 degrees in the west, 29 to 32 in the east and locally 33 degrees Celsius in the Dodecanese.
What the emergency weather report says
According to the Emergency Bulletin of Dangerous Weather Phenomena issued today, Monday (25/09), by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the bad weather system that will cause heavy rains and storms accompanied by hail and a high frequency of lightning, receives the name Elias.
In more detail:
On Monday (25-09-2023) rains and locally strong storms will occur mainly in Thessaly, as well as in western Macedonia, the western parts of central Macedonia and central Sterea. Temporarily it is likely that the Ionian, Epirus, western Sterea and northern Peloponnese will be affected. It is noted that in Thessaly the highest rainfall levels will occur in the prefectures of Karditsa and Trikala as well as in the west and north of the prefecture of Larissa.
On Tuesday (26-09-2023) rains and strong storms in places are predicted in the Ionian, the mainland (except central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace) and towards the evening hours in the Sporades and northern Evia. In Thessaly, the highest rainfall levels will occur in the prefectures of Karditsa, Trikala, Magnesia and in the southern parts of the prefecture of Larissa.
On Wednesday (27-09-2023) rain is forecast for almost the entire country, while locally strong storms will occur in the Ionian, the mainland (mainly in Thessaly, Sterea and the Peloponnese), the Sporades, Evia, western Crete and possibly in the western Cyclades. It is pointed out that in Thessaly the highest rainfall levels will occur in Karditsa prefecture and in the eastern parts of Magnesia prefecture.
On Thursday (28-09-2023) the phenomena will gradually weaken. Until noon, locally heavy rains and storms will occur in the Sporades, Magnesia, northern Evia, and the northeastern parts of Sterea Hellas.
