Severe weather sweeps Paros: The Roads became rivers
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Severe weather events are affecting a large part of the country on Monday afternoon (31/3).
In particular, the most serious problems are recorded in the Cyclades, with heavy rainfall causing extensive damage. In Paros and especially in Naoussa, the intensity of the rain created torrential torrents that swept away vehicles and caused damage.
In fact, a message was sent from "112" shortly before 17.30 to those on the island prohibiting vehicle traffic. "Vehicle movement is prohibited on the road network of Paros due to the occurrence of severe weather phenomena. Emergency vehicles are excluded," the message specifically states.
"There is a serious problem on the central road axes of the island. "It has been raining very heavily for two hours, resulting in rocks falling, streams swelling and the situation on the roads becoming worse," stressed the mayor of Paros, Kostas Bizas.
