Mitsotakis meets Indonesian Vice-President; mutual will to strengthen bilateral relations

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'rouf Amin, who is visiting Greece for the first time, on Friday morning at the Maximos Mansion.
During the meeting, in which it was pointed out that 2024 marks the 75-year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Greece and Indonesia, the two sides expressed a mutual desire to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the economy and in areas of mutual interest, such as tourism and the blue economy.
The prime minister extended an invitation to Indonesia to participate with a delegation in the 9th "Our Ocean Conference", which will be hosted by Greece in 2024.
The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of international and regional interest, with an emphasis on developments in the Middle East.
The prime minister expressed his condolences for the casualties during the bombing of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza and reiterated the need for humanitarian pauses and respect for Humanitarian Law.
Mitsotakis reiterated that the solution for sustainable peace in the Middle East is a political one and it is a two-state solution. Finally, he underlined the adherence of Greece and Indonesia to International Law and the Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), as a principle for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
