The prime minister will board the KIMON frigate, which is in an advanced stage of construction and is expected to be delivered to the Navy by June 2025, while he will visit the shipyards of the NEARCHOS and FORMION frigates which are expected to be delivered around the end of 2025 and the 2026 respectively.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also meet with the officers of the Greek Navy who are at the Navale shipyards and are monitoring the process.

The Greek premier will then travel to Normandy, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, to take part in the major event marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied forces landing in Normandy.

Leaders from all over the West are expected to attend the event, a few days before the European elections, at a critical moment for Ukraine, but also for the discussions on European defense that will take shape after June 9: European leaders, US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, among others, as well as surviving veterans of the landing.
