- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
An alarm has been raised in Kefalonia for the disappearance of a 20-year-old swimmer from South Africa.
"My son got lost a little north of Sami. Please help us find him. I know the Coast Guard is investigating. The more people who help, the better the chance of finding him. Please help us find Benjamin," his mother said in a post circulating in recent hours on social media.
The Coast Guard has launched an investigation involving a Coast Guard vessel, four private vessels and a private diver. On Friday morning, an Air Force helicopter took off. At the same time, searches are also carried out from land by men of the Coast Guard.
According to the first information transmitted by the local website Inkefalonia.gr, the young man was on a catamaran (on which he was working) that was approaching the bay of Sami and at one point he dived into the sea to swim, but he did not return .
Related posts about the young man's disappearance have been posted on the South Africans In Kefalonia Facebook page.
