- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The bodies of four women have been recovered after a boat carrying an unknown number of migrants sank off the coast of Samos on Monday.
Another five people were rescued so far, while over 20 people were found on land and being questioned to see if they were on the boat, the Hellenic Coast Guard said. The boat sank nearly 150 meters off Agios Isidoros, in northwest Samos, under adverse weather conditions. A citizen heard voices and notified the Coast Guard.
A search and rescue operation continues under the Coast Guard's Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center to locate any missing persons in the sea. Rescuers includes a private individual, three Coast Guard vessels, a Hellenic Air Force helicopter, and a private rescue team with one vessel.
