Greek police have video of suspect planting bomb outside Hellenic Train offices
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Surveillance video has surfaced, capturing the moment a man placed a bomb outside the Hellenic Train offices in central Athens, providing a glimpse into a recent attempted attack.
The footage, published by a leading Greek website, shows a man calmly approaching the building and leaving a backpack at the scene.
He appears to deliberately secure the bag, locking it with a padlock and tying it to a nearby tree before walking away casually, attempting to avoid arousing suspicion.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity, and the motive for the attempted bombing remains under investigation.
The explosive device was later discovered and defused without incident. The Greek police’s counterterrorism unit is leading the investigation.
The attempted bombing has heightened concerns about security threats targeting public infrastructure, as Hellenic Train—formerly TrainOSE—is the country’s main railway operator.
