A major international distinction for Greek innovation in meteorology was noted at the Hydromet Excellence Awards, where Raymetrics was named the winner in the category “Best LiDAR Application in Weather and Climate Monitoring.”
This distinction is for the innovative use of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology in monitoring and understanding weather and climate phenomena, making Raymetrics the first Greek company to be honored with an international award in the field of meteorology.
The company has developed numerous high-tech applications in the fields of aviation, meteorology, environmental monitoring, civil protection and defense. These include weather forecasting solutions, gas detection, 3D Scanning LiDAR for cloud height determination, visibility and fog measurement, and 24/7 pollution and humidity monitoring.
Raymetrics President and CEO Nikos Kontos said:
“This award is a milestone for Raymetrics and for Greece. It is recognition of our scientific contribution and our commitment to enhance our understanding of atmospheric conditions and climate change.”
The award was received by Sales Director Konstantina Efstathiou at Varysian’s Global Hydromet Excellence Awards ceremony, which honors excellence in meteorology, hydrology, and climate services internationally.
Based in Athens, Raymetrics works with meteorological organizations in more than 40 countries, confirming the pivotal role of Greek technology in international meteorology.
