The creator of the well-known series "Tehran" Dana Eden is the Israeli who was found dead in an Athens hotel yesterday (15/2), while the authorities are trying to shed light on all the dark corners of the case of her death.

From the information collected so far, the police estimate that it is a suicide as a large number of pills were found in her room.

At the same time, the 52-year-old woman who was found dead by her brother, had signs of bruising on her limbs and in the neck area, with the police examining whether before consuming the pills, she attempted to harm herself in another way.

Information indicates that the 52-year-old had been hospitalized in the past and was taking medication.

Dana Eden had arrived in Athens at the beginning of the month to film the series "Tehran" of which she is a producer.

According to foreign media reports, Dana Eden was one of Israel's most famous and successful producers, and she won an Emmy Award for her work on the series "Tehran."

An autopsy has already been ordered to determine the exact cause of the 52-year-old's death, while police are collecting footage from security cameras and taking statements from hotel staff.

The series "Tehran" filmed in Athens
The series, which follows a Mossad agent in Tehran and was filmed in Athens, is considered one of the most successful series on Israeli television. Dana Eden and co-producer Shula Spiegel had signed a multi-million dollar deal with Apple TV Plus to create it.

In an interview for the podcast “Outside the Frame” held in May 2023, Eden and Spiegel had stated: “In Greece there is a law for tax refunds to foreign productions. We were supposed to receive the money, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were not operating there for a few months, and this did not allow us to receive it on time, only with a six-month delay. We were living like in a movie at that time, we were left with cash deficits of millions.”

“I mortgaged my house to produce “Tehran” and complete the filming. We are both crazy, irresponsibly optimistic and take irrational risks. I hid it from my children, I did not want to reveal it to them,” they had stated.

In November 2021, the series even won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.
